We had the most amazing chance to see the Northern Lights from our town here in North Carolina a few weeks ago. This is such a rare opportunity that happened twice in one year!

In May I woke up one morning to a million photos of the Lights here and was so jealous mostly because I didn’t even hear about the possibility until it had already happened. So I did my research and set alerts for the area.

I found out the next year or so will be some of the best opportunity’s to see the Northern Lights based on the sun cycle. At least until about 11 years from now.

So when I saw the alerts building up I was ready.

The night hey came I was so excited and wasn’t even sure we would be able to see them. I thought about driving out of the city to a better “dark sky” area near us but wasn’t even sure we would get them.

I was just practicing with the settings on my camera and taking shots not even thinking we were looking at them.

It wasn’t until later that I saw other posting on Instagram and I decided to edit my photos that I realized I had captured at least one photo of the lights!

It’s simply incredible what nature is capable of! Awe inspiring power indeed.
