A Day at the Lake
We both had a day off recently and while we were struggling to come up with an activity we stumbled upon a local park that I had forgotten was on our to-visit list. This was Lake Crabtree County Park. This little gem of a park was such a lovely surprise. I had driven by part of the lake once and really wanted to explore more and I think the thing that surprised us both was how big the lake is! It is over 1,000 acre lake which means there is plenty to do on and around the lake.
While we were there, there were plenty of other visitors also it was a pretty busy day. There are areas to host outdoor parties and trails. But I think the biggest draw for us was that you can fish and boat on the lake.
There are little fishing spots all around the lake with docks and piers to get to the water. Plenty of benches and table areas nearby. The only downside, at least according to my husband, is that it is catch and release fishing. So no fish dinners after all your work.
While you can bring your own boats there are no gas-powered boats allowed. I really like this as it adds to the peace of the setting and also helps preserve the wildlife habitat. If you don't own a boat or kayak there are some you can borrow on a first come first serve basis. We would have readily enjoyed that if the rental shop was open.
Let me know if you venture out to Lake Crabtree and what your favorite bit was.
Talk to yall later!
