Homemade Laundry Soap
Yes this is real!! and I love it! Last year ya'll may remember me mentioning that I would do a post on my homemade laundry detergent. Well I didn't get around to it then, I have one for you now. To make this awesome money-saving cleaner you'll need:
1 4lbs. box of borax $3.38
1 4lbs box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda $2.18
1 box of Arm & Hammer Laundry Soap $5.47
1 box of Oxyclean $7.52
1 bottle of Purex Scent Beads (optional) $4.76
2 bars of Zote Laundry Soap $
*Side note: I do not have photos of the Zote Bars because they took me forever to find again. I'm having to possible order them online. I do know they have worked though because I have already used this for a year. I will get a price when I finally find them again.
Mix all the ingredients together. Grate the Zoot bars, with an old cheese grater, into the mixture. You can also use a grater that you only use for this purpose. I like to mix it in the container I use to store it because this cuts down on the mess. But if you have a different sized container or prefer a different method please do so. Now, I got this idea from a wonderful blog called Being Creative to Keep my Sanity. I give all credit to her. now I used a few things differently and I was able to get a longer use out of my soap, but that is because I have just me and the Hubby and she has kiddos. Still a great blog to go check out if you have time.
All together it cost me about $25 for laundry detergent but, it has lasted me almost a year. I believe this is incredible!! and such a saver. Please try this out and tell me how much you loved it!
Talk to ya'll later!
Update: So Darling Hubby found some Zote soap for me and he found it already grated! How awesome is that! They are about the same as a bar of the soap. So if you decided to use the pre-grated vs the bar it's two boxes for two bars.
